about eowave's philosophy
Since 2002, Eowave (More Electronic Sounds for anterior developments) has developed innovative tools for musicians and artists, mixing analogue technology and sensor-based newest technology, software and hardware designs, to create new tools. Marc Sirguy, CEO and designer would say that there is not such a big gap between developing software and hardware as both must be seen as subjective representations of the sound process. Marc started with software programming and his first Max-MSP based stand-alone software iSynth. Then with the Essential Instruments edited by Cycling’74’s in Pluggo 3, he dedicated each Essential Instrument to a special synthesis type: granular, additive synthesis, FM, an analogue modeling synth or a wavetable synth… trying to extract the essential of synthesis, starting all over again with fundamental questions: «what’s an FM synthesis & how should it be concretized?»
Analogue effects designed by Eowave - the little analogue effects called the «bugs» for example - can be compared to some kinds of hardware Essential Instruments. Several little boxes, each representing an effect, a multimodal filter, a ring modulator, a phaser or a sequencer all with a very strong signature.
In 2004, the first Eobody sensor-to-MIDI system enabled artists to use sensors in their creation and opened the frontier between external audio and video environments and artists becoming an essentiel bridge linking the world of analogue sensors to the world of digital process.
In 2006, Eowave was introducing the Persephone, an analogue fingerboard synthesizer with MIDI and sensor-based controls. A remake of synths from the 1930s with today's technology...
In 2007, Eowave is extending the Eobody sensor system concept to a modular, flexible and plug&play system with different modules: a USB8 SensorBox, ethernet and wireless modules... to open even wider the field of new instruments for artistic expression.
